Interesting to see this presented as acceptable teaching material from the BBC! Quite encouraging really - apart from the suggestion that the concept of Jury Independence was all new around this time of the Penn and Mead case. It gives the impression, of course, that this was never a thing prior to this!

And more extraordinarily - we couldn't possibly tell the people this and make this clear to them that they have this power and right to judge the law independently!

Perfect example of the double-mindedness and the gas-lighting of the state.
